ellenbrook western australia, australia

Ellenbrook is Australia’s most awarded new town. It is proof that, if configured properly and combined with the right strategies, urban development can improve liveability over time.

Working alongside the client, Roberts Day established the beginnings of a new town from the outset. From day one there was a corner store and soon after, the beginnings of a school. The Ellenbrook Cultural Foundation was born purely from the success of the public art initiative driven by local artists.

Ellenbrook transformed perceptions about what people want from a new community if given the choice. The 15, 000 plus residents tell us the top three reasons for choosing Ellenbrook were the ‘enhanced natural environment’, ‘community planning’ and ‘old-fashioned sense of community’.

Today, the project continues to out-perform the competition with the new town centre still attracting investment around Australia’s first main street built in decades. Ellenbrook shows that by creating lasting value, a project can be not only successful on a liveability level but commercially as well.
