A large rural landholding became a new city under the Lower Hunter Regional Strategy, following a full- scale community Planning and Design Forum led by Roberts Day.
Leveraging off major road and rail infrastructure, a strategic case was developed for Sweetwater (now Huntlee) to be a vital economic hub linking the Upper and Lower Hunter regions. As a result of the forum process, support was gained around a physical vision for a new city that could become self-sufficient in its provision of jobs, transport, health care and learning opportunities.
