Ellenbrook is the most awarded urban development project and one of the fastest growing new communities in Australia.
The project has successfully implemented groundbreaking innovations on a number of fronts, making it one of Australia’s most highly acclaimed new town projects. Located within the Swan Valley, north-east of the Perth CBD in WA, this new town will grow into a community of 30,000 accommodated in 10,500 homesites and supported by the full range of local facilities, services and employment opportunities. Over half of this new community is constructed and successfully functioning and the remaining stages are planned for implementation over the next 15 years.
Residents have the choice of living in either one of seven walkable villages or in the dynamic, multi-functional Town Centre. Land sales have averaged 450 – 500 per annum over the past 12 years. Facilities and services are conveniently grouped within the village centres which are highly accessible via interconnected streets and linear parkways. The Town Centre represents the first successful execution of main street development in an outer metropolitan community in Australia and has become the commercial, cultural, civic and entertainment heart of Ellenbrook and the wider region.
It is forecast to deliver approximately 220,000m2 of commercial floorspace, contributing to the total local employment base of 7,500 jobs within Ellenbrook or a 50% local employment self-sufficiency rate. The Town Centre showcases a new aesthetics in urbanity, incorporating tree-lined streets, quality town parks and contemporary architectural design. The intensity and substance of the built form and social fabric creates an urban environment that is distinct from, although integrated with the surrounding neighbourhood villages.
Ellenbrook is a widely celebrated project and testament to the ability of Roberts Day to successfully realise an ambitious founding project vision and innovative ‘first’ initiatives, in collaboration with the client, government, specialist consultant team and the community.
