Huntlee is a planned new town for some 20,000 new residents and an 8,000 strong workforce making it the largest single urban release area in New South Wales, Australia.

The site is situated in the historic Hunter Valley wine country and is adjacent to existing settlements. Following a comprehensive Design Forum led by Roberts Day, the site was released in the rapidly evolving Lower Hunter Region.

Defining the new township will be the Huntlee Town Centre, which is adjoined by two low key village centres and associated neighbourhoods. A lake has been incorporated as a destination in its own right and the town centre has been designed to leverage off motorway and rail proximity.

The plan celebrates the site’s natural landscape with the town centre rising up from the valley floor, neighbourhoods clearly defined by ridge and creek systems, and streets aligned to create a sense of place not found elsewhere. Construction is anticipated to start at the early 2009.
