Veneto, Phase 3 of Nakheel’s Waterfront, is located 35km north-west of Dubai adjacent to the Abu Dhabi border. The 12,000ha high profile new city is under construction and currently holds the mantle as the largest waterfront development in the world.
Veneto, sited adjacent to the Palm Cove Canal, capitalises on its water asset while exemplifying the increment of the neighbourhood. The master plan forms discernable centres and well defined edges, fosters interconnected roads and permeable pedestrian and cycle paths linking the area to the Palm Cove canal boulevard park and coastline to the north.
The series of compact, connected, mixed use walkable neighbourhoods within Veneto comprise a diverse range of residential and commercial building types. At the April 2008 launch of the project the live / work building types were the second most sought-after product after direct frontage waterfront homes.
The Veneto design team has configured a unique built form which emulates some of the traditions of Arabic sustainability, such as shaded courtyards, orientation to sea breezes and windowless walls to areas prone to excessive sun exposure. Moreover, the project features a contemporary interpretation of the traditional housing forms of the region with roof decks and wind towers.
The master plan comprises a balanced mix of residential, retail, hotel and office uses, as well as civic structures for educational, cultural, health and recreation purposes.
