Vasse New Town

vasse new town western australia, australia

Vasse has been recognised as an industry-leading urban development since 1996 when the WA Department of Planning and Infrastructure entrusted Roberts Day to trial the now internationally awarded Liveable Neighbourhoods policy as part of the initial ‘Enquiry by Design’ forum. Vasse has since demonstrated how principles and urban development standards can be translated into a memorable design at the new town scale.

The creation of Vasse has enabled compact smart growth in the internationally recognised Margaret River region, protecting it from sporadic development that often lacks the necessary social infrastructure and employment opportunities.

The master plan will support up to one job for each of the 2000 households in the new town through health, retail, commercial and light industrial economic drivers. Already, the release of light industrial land struggles to keep pace with demand and there is solid commitment to the construction of the town centre.
