McMinn Street

The Roberts Day master plan for McMinn Street in Darwin has been the first to satisfy Shell’s stringent financial model as well as gain political support. The Northern Territory Government was so inspired by the project that planning legislation was amended to allow for concept master plan approval - which did not exist before.

The McMinn Street development sought to transform the city's north-eastern gateway from an oil refinery into a lively urban precinct. Commissioned by Shell, Roberts Day produced a plan that would mark a significant step forward in the regeneration of the city with the introduction of more than 2,000 new dwellings and 40,000 square metres of commercial floor space.
